$1,548 towards $2,500

Hi! I'm Soren! I just turned 9 and this is my first "official" fundraiser. I'm almost positive that I've attended The Big Chill every summer that I've been alive (at least that's what my parents tell me). In past years, I've gone for the dancing, balloon animals, fun time with family and friends, and to fill my belly full of ice cream (I even got my first tattoo when the event was at Grace Court Park). This year I'm going to The Big Chill to help others get medicine, food, and clothing, and because my family believes that we should do what we can to help make the world a more loving place for everyone. Also...the ice cream!!

A little about me:

  • I was born and raised right here in Winston Salem.
  • I have 2 dogs, Mia (a 16-year-old dachshund) and Ruby (a 1-year-old Cheagle).
  • I like swimming, squishmallows, reading, singing, bubbles, and being with my friends.
  • I'll be in the 4th grade next year.
  • I go to the Winston-Salem Montessori School and I love it so much!
  • I'm smart, funny, caring, and have a big heart.
  • My mom is a nurse and my dad does....something with organ donation and helping families grieve.
  • I've saved 4 turtles that were dangerously trying to cross the road.

Just a handful of things I love (and/or miss) about our amazing city:

  • The Crooked Tail Cat Cafe. I love cats and my parents won't get me one...yet.
  • Kaleideum...Yay for the Rooftop Adventure!
  • Mary's...of course.
  • The Pride Festival & Parade - my parents say I've been to all of these since I've been alive, also.
  • McKay's.
  • Hot chocolate from the Coffee Park Airstream.
  • Thunderbirds hockey.
  • Kabobs on Fourth.
  • Saturday Morning Cartoons at RiverRun.
  • Snow.
  • Paneer Tikka Masala from Nawab.

Like the Cold Callers that have come before me (I know at least a couple...I'm talking about you, Kelly Carpenter and Corey Hodges!), I plan on raising as much money as possible. Just a small donation (or a large one if you want) will go a long way to helping me meet my goal for The Shalom Project! Also, come see me sit on a giant block of ice...The Big Chill is happening July 20th, 2024 from 3-6pm. Bring some extra cash to donate while you're there...and, of course, come taste all the delicious ice cream!

Join me in supporting real change. Help us illumine a pathway out of poverty for our neighbors with The Shalom Project.
