A World Without Poverty Is Possible

Are you brave enough to imagine it with me?

$405 towards $500

Friends,

It is hard for me to believe that I have been connected with The Shalom Project's work in some capacity now for 10 years. In the summer of 2014, I joined the Shalom Project's team as an eager intern ready to help alleviate poverty in a local neighborhood of Winston-Salem I loved so dearly - West Salem. Little did I know that my major project for that summer would be planning this very event - The Big Chill.

It has grown significantly over the past decade, but the simplicity of its impact remains. On National Ice Cream Day we gather as community to support community. Our donations help fuel The Shalom Project's services which include everything from a Clothing Closet and Food Pantry to a Medical Clinic and its Flourish Program. I continue to be so inspired by their work, which is why I instituted a Tithing Pledge when I founded Faithonomics - a pledge by Faithonomics to donate at least 10% of its funds to The Wild Imagination Fund at the Winston-Salem Foundation which, in part, supports the work of The Shalom Project. It is also why I brave the hot July heat with my gallons of homemade ice cream and participate as an ice-cream maker.

So here is what I hope you will do:

  1. Help me reach my personal goal of $500 to support this year's Big Chill Fundraiser.
  2. Come visit me on Saturday, June 20th from 3 to 6 pm in Bailey Park and try some of my homemade "Sugar Mama" ice cream.
  3. Learn more about the Shalom Project by visiting their website here.

In fact, for everyone who makes a donation to my campaign - I'll share my recipe for this year's ice cream flavor! My Sugar Mama blend is a homemade cinnamon swirl with Moravian sugar cake crumble on top. Sound delicious? It is. I have every intention of winning this year's competition by blowing the judges mind with my sugary masterpiece.

In all serious - together we can do some amazing things here and I hope you will consider a donation.

With Wild Imagination,

-Rayce
