Volunteering at The Shalom Project has been one of the most meaningful experiences of my life. Every week, I have the privilege of serving alongside a dedicated group that provides critical support to some of the most vulnerable members of our community.

Our food pantry and clothing closet serve approximately 110 families—that’s more than 400 individuals who rely on us each week for essential groceries, clothing, and a sense of dignity and care. We see firsthand the impact that access to nutritious food and appropriate clothing can make for a struggling family or individual trying to stay afloat.

At our free medical clinic, we welcome about 30 uninsured or underinsured patients every week. Many of them have chronic conditions, untreated illnesses, or simply no other place to go for basic healthcare. With the help of volunteer doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and administrative staff, we ensure they’re seen with compassion and respect—no questions asked, no payment expected.

Our inspiring Flourish program, which walks with women experiencing financial insecurity in Winston-Salem, equips them with the tools, community, and mentorship they need to rebuild their financial lives and break the cycle of poverty. It’s not just about support—it’s about empowerment.

Each week, we also share a warm meal with our patients and volunteers at the medical clinic. Just $150 feeds 65 people, making it one of the most immediate and tangible ways to give. It’s more than food—it’s connection.

At The Shalom Project, I see hope in action. I witness resilience, kindness, and the quiet power of people helping people. That’s why I volunteer. Join me in supporting real change.

Just a small donation will go a long way to helping me meet my goal for The Shalom Project
